In late February 2019, leaders of the United States and North Korea gathered in Vietnam’s capital for a highly anticipated diplomatic meeting. Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un held their second summit in Hanoi on February 27–28, 2019.
The meeting followed their first historic encounter in Singapore in 2018 and aimed to advance discussions on denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula. During their time in Hanoi, both leaders participated in formal talks, a one-on-one meeting, and a working lunch.
Although the summit ended without a signed agreement, both sides described the discussions as constructive and expressed willingness to continue dialogue in the future.
Vietnam also received international attention for its role as host. The country is widely recognized as one of the safest and most secure destinations in the world, offering political stability and a peaceful environment. This reputation reassures international buyers and investors, who can confidently travel to Vietnam for business without concerns about security.
The Hanoi summit marked an important moment in diplomatic relations, while also highlighting Vietnam’s growing reputation as a reliable and safe destination for global trade and cooperation.
